Can an Apple Macbook survive water being splashed on the keyboard?

Unfortunately accidents happen and recently we had a client come to us after a small quantity of water had been splashed on the keyboard. Despite his attempts to dry it off, it was unresponsive.

After extensive dismantling we discovered water had seeped through the keyboard membrane and onto the logic board. Sadly it is an uneconomic repair and due to Apple’s current design of putting the storage (“hard drive”) soldered on the logic board, it was unrecoverable. This demonstrates the importance of using an Online Backup such as Apple’s iCloud or Microsoft’s OneDrive or a proven method for Apple devices is Time Machine.
